Home Greenhouse garden

This garden is inactive.

By far the weirdest and wackiest garden space I keep. Always has been no matter where “home” happens to be.

A mix of houseplants and kitchen window sill containers, disturbingly overgrown cuttings in jars, etc. Efforts to propagate as well as other unstructured horticultural experiments I feel free to do in my own space!

Started with the houseplants* and mostly I learn the hard way what not to do and then enjoy looking at the plants under lenses & my microscope.

Here I don’t just try to learn how to manage the set-backs & successes, I try to document them b/c sometimes they’re beautiful or exquisite to look at in detail: good, bad, & “ugly.”

I have full southern exposure with a south wall of all windows and some fluorescent grow lights, seed mats, other basic starter-level toys. I’m probably supposed to call them tools…I told you this is an informal space so that I can be at liberty to mess-up and learn by stubborn failure as much as I want. Someone’s gotta repeatedly knock out the confounding variables just to be sure.

*technically 18 years ago with my first success from the head librarian I worked for at the Brill Science Library, Miami University. I still have 1 pot of cloned descendants from that original plant!

Containing 13 plants, kfrye's Home Greenhouse garden is an indoor garden located in Chicago, United States and is grown using organic principles.
