This is my first springtime in the Washington, DC metro area, and I'm inspired by the abundant greenery (not to mention the cherry blossoms) to try and grow things outdoors. There's a sunny spot under a tree near the steps to my apartment building that looks like a good spot for a kitchen garden…

I have had a fairly decent record with houseplants for the past 3 years – prior to that I couldn't keep anything alive – but all my previous attempts to grow edibles have ended in failure. Let's see how it goes this time.
