Mignonette Lettuce
A variety of lettuce
How to sow mignonette lettuce: Direct seed outdoors, thin to 20cm when seedlings are 3cm tall
Sun requirement for mignonette lettuce: Plant in Partial Sun
One of the old lettuces of New Zealand, a buttercrunch type with red-tinged outer leaves, a loose light green heart and a flavour that modern lettuces don't have. It has survived because it doesn't cross and it self seeds easily. Came from Palmerston North in 1997. Sow in trays in spring and early autumn, prick out at 2.5 cm and transplant when the leaves touch at 20 cm diagonal spacing, or under cover in summer.
