[back] an corural ‘nd Neca neroane endations a re given as a gener: COURGETTE : ZUCCHINI Courgette and Zucchini are exactly the same thing; and when left to grow they then become Marrows! When to Sow ~ Spring or Summer. Where to Grow ~ Ina warm, sheltered, well-drained site in full sun after all danger of frost has passed. Can be sown earlier indoors or under glass, but remember courgettes must have both warmth and plenty of light. Germination will not occur in cold temperatures. How to Sow ~ When sown direct, sow 2 seeds 15cm apart, in groups 1 metre apart; or 1 seed per pot and cover with 10mm of firmed soil. LAY SEED ON|IT'S SIDE WHEN SOWING : DO. NOT PUSH THE SEED INTO THE SOIL AS THIS MAY BLOCK THE SMALL HOLE THAT THE SEED TAKES WATER IN THROUGH, A COMMON CAUSE OF SEEDS NOT GERMINATING. Care ~ Keep seedbed evenly moist during germination period. Avoid getting foliage wet as this can create fungal and mildew problems. Tips ~ To harvest, simply twist the fruit, it will break off from the plant. By keeping mature fruit picked you increase yields, prolong fruiting and extend the harvest period.
