Notes

Purple sweet potato, already growing strongly and just starting to vine-out. Planted at the east end of the summer bed to be groundcover for the other plants. Grew very strongly and effectively across summer - very heat hardy. Leaves harvested for eating intermittently through summer and autumn. First tuber harvested 24/06/13, when I noticed the ground around the plant was getting pushed up. Tuber was 2.5 kg and bigger than my melons! Second tuber left in place for plant to continue growing. (it's in permanent shade at midwinter but is coping fine with that for now).
