Amaranth Amaranthus spp.

Three golden-amaranth seedlings that survived my neglect got finally planted out on the water retention/diversion ridge east of the old lemon tree after I finally finished building it. One survived, and made great seed heads the following Feb-April. Kids scattered the seeds wilfully and generously. Many many volunteer seedlings sprouted in April-May, and began forming seedheads in late May / early June 2013. Waiting to see if amaranth can be a spring and autumn crop (two crops a year), or if it will only seed volunteers from the autumn-planted crop.
