We've added 4 olive trees to our growing orchard. There are 2 Corantina olive trees, which are apparently a good dual purpose oil and pickling olive from Italy. The other 2 are Manzanillo olives from Spain, which are mostly for pickling.
The idea behind choosing 2 varieties is they will cross pollinate, and produce even more olives. Currently the plan is to pickle/preserve the olives. I'd love to get some olive oil too but the hardware required to extract the oil appears to be very expensive.
